Speakup is passionate about creating employment opportunities for people with learning disabilities and autistic people. We employ people with lived experience in full and part time work. Two of our salaried people work with Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust as Peer Support Workers in Learning Disability Services and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.

We also provide work placement opportunities to help people get the skills and experience they need to gain employment.

Many self advocates working or volunteering for Speakup have benefited from the nurturing support of Speakup and gone on to some successful careers. David Gill began his working career as a volunteer at Speakup, soon employed as part of the team and then going off to work with NHS ENgland as an Autism Adviser. David has always been a passionate advocate for autistic people and has recently been awarded a Dimensions Learning Disability and Autism Leaders award for his efforts.
